The SASH lab holds weekly lab meetings on Tuesdays from 2-3pm. Students interested in joining the lab should be available to attend lab meetings.
Graduate Students
I can serve as the primary advisor for graduate students in the Social and Cognitive Psychology Program and the Law-Psychology Program. Although I am unable to serve as the primary advisor for graduate students in the Clinical Psychology program, it is possible for me to serve as a co-advisor with a clinical faculty member. I am especially interested in advising psychology students who want to pursue a Graduate Specialization in Women’s & Gender Studies (but this is not required). See the Psychology Department website for more information on the program and application process. Please contact Dr. Holland if you have any questions or want to discuss your potential fit with the lab (kholland4@unl.edu).
Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students play an important role in the SASH Lab. Being a research assistant can involve a variety of activities, including attending lab meetings, formatting surveys, recruiting participants, collecting data, entering data, transcribing interviews, analyzing qualitative data, and reviewing literature. RAs will be assigned to activities and tasks based on the current needs of the lab and their experiences, skills, interests, etc. RAs will also receive mentoring on professional development. Most RAs volunteer in the lab (approximately 6 hours of work each week), but there are additional options for UNL students. UNL students can register for course credit: PSYC 498 undergraduate research (1-6 credits, graded with option), CASC 98 undergraduate research experience (0 credits, P/NP), WMNS 396 independent study (1-3 credits, graded with option). UNL students may also be able to apply for UCARE (this is something we would discuss 1-1 after completing at least one full semester of work in the lab). Psychology majors who are also majoring or minoring in Women’s & Gender Studies or LGBTQ/Sexuality Studies are preferred, but this is not a requirement. Please contact Dr. Holland if you are interested (kholland4@unl.edu).
